San Juan Capistrano free concert to showcase love songs from World War II era – Orange County Register

The San Juan Capistrano Historical Society invites the public to get a head start on the July 4 holiday by attending a free concert featuring Mike Chamberlin, a guitarist, vocalist and storyteller who will sing World War II-era love songs. As he puts it, some of the most endearing love songs ever came out of the early 1940s call to arms, songs like “You’ll Never Know” and “White Cliffs of Dover.”

“These songs served as an inspiration to the soldiers and the loved ones they left behind,” Chamberlin says. This is a chance to relive that era and learn how those songs and more came about.


When: Shows are scheduled at 4 and 6 p.m. Saturday, July 1

Where: San Juan Capistrano Historical Society, 31831 Los Rios Street, San Juan Capistrano

Admission: Free, although donations to the society will be accepted
